Scott McDonald is a passionate literacy educator and Senior trainer of teachers for the Queensland Core Skills examination board. He has developed two technical writing systems to help improve and develop fluency in writing. In addition Scott has published his own novel – a magical realist text.

Scott is a “foodie” who enjoys travel and the opportunities it holds to learn more about different cultures and their cuisine. Most recently he spent 3 weeks in Malaysia training teachers in critical thinking skills and writing, as well as establishing a regional collaborative project through the Asia Education Foundation.

Jill Margerison holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations and has worked in Tokyo as an editor, writer and teacher. In 2015 she led an IBSC Action Research project on Maker Culture. Interested in unlocking creative potential and deeper learning through Design Thinking, Jill offers insight into a range of vibrant learning communities highlighting the value of collaboration in this digital age.

But how truly media literate are our students? Join us in discussing a learning focused environment combining digital pedagogies with traditional teaching strategies to engage and excite students about their education.
