Schools should reflect real life. Yet what constitutes ‘real life’ for these students?
Travelling to Lake Chini, in Central Pahang, Malaysia, we were delighted to find an innovative educational environment that supports creativity, collaboration and shared experiences. The teachers were looking for entrepreneurial opportunities to market their agricultural products grown by the students on school grounds. They were encouraging their students to master the art of Silat and to represent Pahang and Malaysia. They were decorating the walls of their classrooms with pictures that inspired imagination. Great to be connected with a community that looks ‘within’ to create happiness and a growth mindset amongst their youth.
